Four players from the state of Michigan are on the Maxwell Award watch list.  University of Michigan junior wide receiver Devin Funchess and senior quarterback Devin Gardner along with Michigan State's junior QB - Connor Cook and senior RB - Jeremy Langford. 

A federal judge has granted preliminary approval of a revised settlement agreement between the NFL and former players who sued the league over concussions.  The new deal, struck last month, provides unlimited funds to retired players who suffer from neurocognitive illnesses.  U.S. District Court Judge Anita Brody wrote in her decision Monday that her concerns over an earlier settlement were satisfied and that the revised deal is a significant improvement over the previous one.


The Detroit Tigers return to interleague play tonight as they host the Los Angeles Dodgers in the first of a two game series at Comerica Park.  First pitch is 7:08pm, and Justin Verlander at (7-7) will get the start. 

The Detroit Pistons have reportedly agreed to a multi-year deal with center Aaron Gray.  Gray, who will backup Andre Drummond, was drafted in 2007 by Chicago and has also played for New Orleans, Toronto and Sacramento.  Yesterday, Detroit also named Brian Wright as the team's assistant general manager.  Wright has been with the Orlando Magic for the last eight years, serving most recently as director of scouting.
