Torii Hunter and Austin Jackson both hit home runs to support the pitching of Justin Verlander as the Detroit Tigers topped the Arizona Diamondbacks, (4-3) last night.  Detroit blew an early three-run lead, but went ahead to stay in the seventh inning when Miguel Cabrera singled home Jackson.  Verlander allowed three runs on six hits while pitching into the seventh inning to improve to (9-8) with the win.  The two teams will play game-two of their three game series tonight in Arizona.  First pitch is 9:40pm with Rick Porcello getting the start. 

NFL football is returning this week with the start of training camps around the league.  The Buffalo Bills were the first to open over the weekend, while the New York Giants hold their first practice today.  The Lions are the last team to open camp, with their first practice scheduled for Monday. 

With the departure of guard Lance Stephenson, the Indiana Pacers are adding Rodney Stuckey to their backcourt.  The two sides have finalized a one-year contract.  The "Indianapolis Star" reports the deal is for the veteran's minimum.  Stuckey averaged nearly 14 pts. and just over two assists in 73 games last season for the Detroit Pistons. 

Yesterday, Michigan St. football picked up 2 more commitments for the class of 2015.  3-star WR-Felton Davis from Virginia, and 3-star DB-Josh Butler out of Texas.  That makes 10 commitments for the Class of 2015 for Mark Dantonio and MSU. 

And finally, the West Michigan Whitecaps won (2-0) over the Burlington Bees last night at Fifth-Third Ballpark.  The Caps are off today and then will open a series in Clinton tomorrow night.
