The Detroit Tigers snapped their 4-game losing streak last night with a (7-2) victory over Chicago last night at Comerica Park.  Detroit scored six runs in the opening frame, including a three-run homer by Nick Castellanos, who ended the night with 4 RBI.  Max Scherzer picked up his 13th win of the season, surrendering one run on five hits while striking out six in seven innings of work.  In this afternoon's rubber match, Drew Smyly gets the start for the Tigers and John Danks will take the mound for the White Sox.  First pitch is 1:08pm. 

Also, Tigers minor league pitcher Evan Reed is scheduled to be in court today.  Reed was charged yesterday with two counts of third-degree criminal sexual conduct stemming from an alleged incident in April.  A 45-year old woman claims she was sexually assaulted by the pitcher in his room at the Motor City Casino in Detroit after drinking with him at a bar in Royal Oak. 

Detroit Red Wings head coach Mike Babcock has his staff in place for the upcoming season.  Yesterday the team hired Jim Hiller and Andrew Brewer as assistant coaches. 

MSU football got their 11th player commitment for the Class of 2015 last night as 6'5" 285lb. Texas OL - Tyler Higby made his verbal pledge to Mark Dantonio and the Spartans. 

In Midwest League play last night, the Whitecaps had their 6-game winning streak snapped as Lake County defeated them (3-2).  Game #3 of the 4-game series is scheduled for tonight 7pm at Fifth-Third Ballpark.
