Three Tigers are heading to Minnesota for the All-Star Game, maybe four.  Miguel Cabrera is starting at first base while DH Victor Martinez made it as a reserve.  Starting pitcher Max Scherzer is also going while fellow starter Rick Porcello is part of the final vote in the American League.  The game is July 15th. at Target Field.  Also, two-time reigning American League MVP Miguel Cabrera will not participate in the Home Run Derby later this month.  He says he doesn't want to mess with his swing.  He's hitting .308 with 14 home runs and 68 RBI for the Tigers this season.

Last night, Matt Joyce and Desmond Jennings each hit a two-run homer to power the Tampa Bay Rays to a (7-3) win over the Tigers at Comerica Park.  Rick Porcello gave up seven runs in five-and-two-thirds innings for the loss.  The Tigers welcome in the Dodgers for two games starting tomorrow.  Detroit will send Justin Verlander to the hill for the start.

In Midwest League action,  the West Michigan Whitecaps won at Ft. Wayne yesterday (7-6).  They are off today before starting a series at Bowling Green tomorrow night.

Finally, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope scored 30 points and grabbed 12 rebounds as the Detroit Pistons topped the Memphis Grizzlies (85-82) in the Orlando Summer League.  Peyton Siva added 12 points, 7 assists and 5 rebounds in the win.  The Pistons play the Heat tomorrow.
