It may only be preseason, but the Detroit Red Wings beat up the Boston Bruins, 8-2, on Thursday night in Boston.

Pavel Datsyuk had goal and three assists, Henrik Zetterberg added a goal and two assists. Justin Abdelkader, Joakim Andersson, Danny DeKeyser, Daniel Cleary and David McIntyre all added goals for the Wings. The two teams will meet again on Saturday night in the first preseason game at the Joe.

Red Wings forward Teemu Pulkkinen has been hit with a four-game suspension following the hit he dished out on Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Mike Kostka during Tuesday's preseason game. (espn.com)

Injuries have plagued the Red Wings since the beginning of training camp. On Thursday, Patrick Eaves had to be taken from the ice after a fall, clutching his knee. Mike Babcock seems frustrated that the line he'd like to see -- Alfredsson/Franzen/Weiss -- hasn't been available due to one or more injuries. (freep.com)

Babcock is pleased with some of the young talent coming up through the ranks of the Red Wings organization. (detnews.com)

The Red Wings may be on the brink of some very strong seasons to come. At least that's what ESPN.com thinks. They has released their NHL Future Power Rankings, and the Wings sit second behind the defending Stanley Cup champs, the Chicago Blackhawks (espn.com)

The Mule = Overrated? That's what one espn.com hockey writer thinks. Pierre LeBrun ranks Franzen among the most overrated players in the NHL (espn.com)
