He suffered an elbow injury in 2012 that required Tommy John surgery, yet two-time All Star reliever Joel Hanrahan is poised to make his return to the majors -- and, according to a report, is garnering attention from the Detroit Tigers.
CBS Sports Jon Heyman says the Tigers are among five teams that are thought to be in the running for Hanrahan, who held a showcase just recently to show off his surgically-repaired and healed throwing arm.
Heyman says Hanrahan, who racked 76 of his 100 career saves in just two seasons with the Pirates, hit speeds of 92 to 93 in the showcase.
The other teams thought to be frontrunners for Hanrahan's services? Yankees, Rangers, Red Sox and Rockies.
Heyman says the Tigers would love another reliever to team with Joe Nathan.
