The Picks: Week 2

The first week of the picks is in the books, and there were quite a few surprises. What isn't surprising is that Jim ended up in third place thanks to (once again) picking against the Western Michigan Broncos. Here are the current standings!

Kris - 6-1

Drew - 6-1

Jim - 4-3

Fongers - 3-4

#15 Georgia (1-0) +5 @ #24 Notre Dame (1-0)

After last week, Georgia seems to be the favorite to win the lowly SEC East, and this week could prove it with a win over an overrated Notre Dame team. Last week, the Irish beat Temple while only throwing for 184 yards, but over 400 yards on the ground. If Georgia is able to contain that running game, it’ll be easy going for the Bulldogs.

#5 Oklahoma (1-0) +7.5 @ #2 Ohio State (1-0)

The second top five matchup of the year already, but don’t look for this to be a “good game”. Last year, this same Ohio State team went into Norman and demolished Oklahoma by three touchdowns. This time, the game is in Columbus… At night… This doesn’t look good for ole Boomer Sooner.

Fongers - Oklahoma

Jim - Oklahoma

Drew - Oklahoma

Central Michigan (1-0) +5 @ Kansas (1-0)

In the game no one wants to watch, the Chips head to Kansas and look to prove that last week’s struggles against Rhode Island were just early season jitters. Kansas will want to show that, even with their recent struggles, their still a Big 12 team, and should be able to beat a low MAC team.

Cincinnati (1-0) +34.5 @ #8 Michigan (1-0)

Michigan went down to Dallas last week and flexed their defensive muscles against a weak Florida offense missing their key players. But the story of the game will be the Wolverine’s offense. Will Wilton Speight get back on track against a lowly Bearcat team? Or are we going to see O’Korn or even Peters on the field this Saturday?

Western Michigan (0-1) +7.5 @ Michigan State (1-0)

A game that every Bronco fan has been waiting for since their resurgence. A chance to beat an in-state Big Ten team. While, they did lose their starting QB, starting WR, and head coach, they don’t look like they missed a beat last week with taking USC to the limit. Michigan State wants to continue to prove that they can still win the small one, at least it’s small to them.

Seattle Seahawks +3 @ Green Bay Packers

The NFL is back, and the schedule starts with a great game for Sunday. The Seahawks goes into Lambeau field to take on a hungry Green Bay Packer team that believes they are a Super Bowl favorite. Teams going West Coast to the East never do very well, and with it being the first game of the week, look for a slow start for the Seahawks.

Kris - Green Bay

Fongers - Green Bay

Drew - Green Bay

Arizona Cardinals -2 @ Detroit Lions

After a playoff appearance for the Lions, they look to continue last season’s success and it starts against a pretty good Cardinal team. With a weak defensive line for the Lions, look for Cardinal’s Running Back David Johnson to have a ridiculous day coming out of the backfield, and a rough start for the Lions season.
