Texas Father Says Cops Shot Toddler, Teenage Son During Search At His Home

A Texas father said thatĀ police officers shot his teenage son and three-year-old daughterĀ while executing a search warrant at his house.Ā Luis GomezĀ told KOSA-TV that his 16-year-old son was watching Gomez's daughter while he was at work. Around 9:30 p.m., officers allegedly threw something through the window and broke down the front door.

The teen, who claimed the officers did not identify themselves, thought they were intruders and went downstairs to confront them.

ā€œAnd he heard the front door kicked in, so he thought someone was robbing us or something,ā€Ā Gomez toldĀ the news station. ā€œSo, he runs over there. I guess he had an object in his hand, I donā€™t know what he had or what. And when he ran that way, they just opened fire on him.ā€

One of the bullets went through the wall and struck the young girl in the back. She was taken to the hospital where she is recovering.

ā€œSheā€™s in a lot of pain,ā€ Gomez said. ā€œShe just wonā€™t stop crying, sheā€™s shaking. She just keeps screaming every five minutes. Doctors said itā€™s going to be some kind of trauma. Like sheā€™s going to be traumatized over it.ā€

Gomez said that his son was taken to a juvenile detention center following the search.

ā€œThey told my son this is your fault,ā€ Gomez said. ā€œItā€™s your fault she got shot. This is all your fault.ā€

He said that the officers did have a search warrant, but would not say if they found anything. He added that police had found drugs in the home during previous raids.Ā

Midland City officials confirmedĀ there was an officer-involved shootingĀ and said that the Texas Rangers are investigating.
